Eat your greens — app shows climate cost of your menu

Nutritics, a food data management company, is to offer restaurants the chance to let their customers know how their menus affect the environment.

The business, which this year received backing from Pat McCann, the former boss of the Dalata hotel group, and Joe Hogan, co-founder of Openet, has invested €500,000 in Foodprint, an analysis tool set to launch next week.

Stephen Nolan, managing director of the Dublin company, said 200 clients in the food service business were on a waiting list for the product. Nutritics clients include the Restaurant Group, which owns Wagamama and Frankie & Benny’s; pub groups Stonegate and Fuller’s Brewery in the UK; and Disney theme parks in the US. In Ireland Aramark, which owns Avoca, is a customer.
