Cindy will come face to face with her secret family as she returns to Walford as part of a four-episode special this week.

Amid the chaos of her return, Cindy paid a visit to her mother-in-law Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) in Monday’s episode.

Kathy was left stunned as she saw her Cindy in her home.

It wasn’t long until the pair were throwing insults at each other, after Cindy explained she has been in France with her son Ian and grandson Peter.

A fuming Kathy accused Cindy of being a bad mother for not doing her time in prison and missing her children growing up.

She then asked if Peter stole her money to give to Cindy and branded her a “money-grabbing tart.”

Cindy gave Kathy some home truths as she recalled the time when Kathy faked her death as part of an insurance claim plan for her family.

She shouted at Kathy for always putting herself first resulting in Ben being a “psycho.”

Kathy then slapped Cindy across the face and Cindy slapped her back.

BBC viewers were left open-mouthed at the violent scenes.

Taking to social media, one said: “Omg these Cindy & Kathy scenes are everything those slaps were epic.”

Another wrote: “A double slap. I’m loving these Kathy/Cindy scenes.”

A third penned: “Go on Cindy give that Kathy a slap! She’s been asking for it for a while.”

Upcoming scenes will see Ian clash with his son as the soap legend’s true intentions are revealed.

Cindy will also come face to face with her secret family on the day of her daughter Anna’s 21st birthday.

How will the Knight family react to their long-lost mum returning?

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
