Early sunshine, high clouds and mild 50s Thursday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Good Thursday morning. Fair skies are overhead with very chilly temperatures in the 20s to lower 30s to start off the day.
The clear and calm conditions overnight have allowed widespread frost to develop across the area. Areas of patchy, but locally dense fog and freezing fog are also starting to develop early this morning. The freezing fog will cause some poor visibility for your morning drive to work and school, leave a few minutes early if you can. Thursday will start off mostly sunny with high clouds pushing in through the late morning into the afternoon, highs will be mild in the middle to upper 50s.
Skies will become partly to mostly cloudy overnight and Friday morning low temperatures will drop into the middle 30s. Groundhog Day Friday will be a perfect end to our work and school week with plenty of sunshine, fairly calm winds and high temperatures topping out in the low to middle 50s. The weekend will be a 50-50 split with sunshine and warm high temperatures forecast for Saturday, highs will top out in the low to middle 60s.
Widespread rain showers will begin to move in from the west starting Sunday morning. Rainfall can be heavy at times through the day Sunday with breezy winds gusting to 30 miles per hour through the day. Some rain showers will carry over into Monday morning with Monday afternoon high temps in the low to middle 50s. Rainfall totals for Sunday and Monday will be between 0.5 to 1 inch.
