When Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts walked up to the line of scrimmage, center Jason Kelce turned around and shook his head. Kelce seemed to disagree with an audible that Hurts called on the team’s second drive of the game.

Hurts then followed Kelce for a first-down pick up. Troy Aikman suggested Kelce could have shook his head to confuse Kansas City’s defense. But maybe Philadelphia’s five-time All-Pro center saw things differently than Hurts and called off the audible.

The 13-year pro is considered one of the best centers in NFL history. Due to his experience, he might recognize things his young quarterback doesn’t. Outside of calling the shots, Kelce also cleared the way for D’Andre Swift by running over Chiefs safety Justin Reid on a 17-yard gain.

On the next play, Swift rushed for a four-yard touchdown to tie the game up, 7-7.

Hurts threw an interception to Reid on Philadelphia’s next possession. Through the first two quarters, the 2022 second-team All-Pro is facing a ton of pressure from Steve Spagnuolo’s defense. In rainy conditions, the offense is off to a slow start.

But Philadelphia’s best drive was led by Kelce. His athleticism and football IQ were evident on Philadelphia’s 75-yard scoring drive.

The Eagles need Kelce to knock around more guys and make smart calls upfront to get a win.
