PHILADELPHIA — Jalen Reagor’s rookie season is over after the Eagles wide receiver exited Sunday night’s game in the first half with a head injury. The Eagles announced he was out for the rest of the game.
The Eagles trailed Washington, 17-14, at halftime of a game the Football Team needs to win in order to get into the playoffs as the NFC East champion.
Reagor had one catch for 15 yards, a nice grab along the right sideline during the Eagles’ first touchdown drive, in the first half. He took a hard fall when he was trying to pull in a pass downfield from quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Reagor’s untimely exit marks the end of an inconsistent season marked by injuries. Reagor finishes with 31 catches for 396 yards and a touchdown, plus a punt return touchdown, in 11 games. Reagor suffered a shoulder injury late in training camp but was able to return for the season opener. In Week 2, he suffered a thumb injury that cost him five games.
Reagor’s season highs were five catches in Week 15 at the Cardinals and 55 yards — all of which came on one catch — in the season opener at Washington. He was supposed to add some explosiveness to the offense, but Reagor, much like the rest of the offense in 2020, was unable to be consistently dangerous.
The Eagles took Reagor with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and his struggles were not helped by the fact that Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who was the No. 22 overall pick, turned in a historic rookie season with 88 catches for 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns and made the Pro Bowl.

Last week, Reagor reflected on the “trials and tribulations” of his rookie season, and the 22-year-old pointed to his injuries at something that stunted his development and prevented him from being a contributor earlier in his career.
But he also said it was just one season, and he has his eyes on long-term success in Philadelphia.
“It wasn’t enough,” Reagor said. “It wasn’t enough. It wasn’t enough for the team, it wasn’t enough personally, so you just gotta keep improving and just sometimes you got to look yourself in the mirror and you see where you can improve, and that’s all you can do is incline and that’s what I’m looking to do.”
