Dusty’s savage response after bulldozing umpire

Richmond star Dustin Martin has shown little sympathy after bowling over a goal umpire in his side’s thrilling comeback win against the GWS Giants.

With the Tigers trailing by nine points and just 6:19 remaining on the game clock in the final quarter, Martin got his toe to a ball on Richmond’s goal line, before his momentum took him through goal umpire Adam Wojcik.

The impact of the clash sent Wojcik tumbling to the ground and he was left with a dislocated shoulder after attempting to brace the fall by extending his right arm.

The goal was Martin’s fourth of the evening in a sensational performance where he led his side’s comeback after they trailed by 28 points in the second quarter.

Martin checked on the umpire after the collision but had a hilarious take on the clash after the Tigers’ thrilling five-point win.

“It was a bit of carry-on from the umpire, I think,” Martin told Fox Footy when asked about the incident.

“I’ll tell you what, Dusty might not get a Brownlow vote after that one,” Eddie McGuire said on commentary after Martin’s savage response.

“Poor old umpire has dislocated his shoulder. I don’t think that he knew that he’s dislocated his shoulder.”

Umpire Wojcik was unable to carry on after the clash with Martin and was replaced, but was met with a standing ovation from the Richmond faithful in attendance at Marvel Stadium.

Incredibly, it was the second consecutive week where Wojcik got into close quarters with the players after going viral for standing his ground on the goal line as Lions star Joe Daniher leapt on his shoulders last week.

“He has stayed tough in the face of fire,” AFL great Gerard Healy said.

“He hasn’t even flinched and in the space of two weeks he’s turned himself into a cult hero.”
