Dust and cooler weather moves in behind front

Happy Friday Eve #HappyFridayEve

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Good morning and happy Friday eve! After luckily seeing the severe weather threat for the large part bust Wednesday we are tracking much cooler weather moving into the ArkLaTex behind the cold front. In addition to the cooler weather we did see a decent amount of dust from the southwest getting pulled into the region thanks to gusty westerly winds. High temperatures will be in the 60s through Saturday when our temperatures will start to rebound. Our next major chance for rain does not come until next Tuesday when we are tracking another front. It remains to be seen at this point whether or not we will have any severe potential with that front.

In the meantime, as you are getting ready to head out the door this morning you do want to grab the jacket as we are seeing much cooler temperatures behind the front. Current temperatures are in the 40s and will only be moving up into the low 60s this afternoon. On top of the colder weather we are tracking very breezy conditions this morning with wind gusts over 30 MPH through the mid-morning. While we could see some more dust particles in the air we are tracking generally sunny skies today for the ArkLaTex.

As we look ahead to Friday and the weekend we are tracking some cool but great weather for the region as we officially kick off spring on Saturday. Throughout Friday and the weekend we are tracking beautiful weather for the weekend with ample sunshine throughout the next four days. Temperatures will be cool, but by Sunday our high temperatures will be back into the low 70s.

Moving into next week we are tracking our next chance for rain and thunderstorms to arrive on Tuesday. This is going to be another cold front that will be pushing through the region along with a developing area of low pressure off to our north. The main difference from last week is at least at this time that low does not seem to be as strong as what we saw Wednesday and that may play a limiting factor in terms of severe potential for the ArkLaTex. Temperatures next week will continue to rebound with highs early in the week that will be in the mid and upper 70s.

So get ready for some fantastic week inbound for the ArkLaTex! Have a great Thursday!
