Dungeon of Doom: Trying to make sense of controversial finish to Lions-Cowboys game

ARLINGTON, TEXAS — The Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys played in a playoff-like atmosphere game in prime-time action from AT&T Stadium. It was one of the most hotly-contested games of the season, with the Lions losing 20-19 in the final moments in Week 17 action.
But instead of talking about the back-and-forth action and game-changing plays. MLive’s Dungeon of Doom podcast is forced to focus on a painful officiating gaffe, with Taylor Decker flagged for illegal touching after catching the go-ahead two-point conversion.
Hosts Kyle Meinke and Ben Raven offer their take on the situation, while sharing audio from Decker and fellow offensive lineman Dan Skipper from the locker room. The guys also compare what they’ve been told by Lions players and coaches to the contradictory pool report from referee Brad Allen on the call.

“I don’t want to talk about it, all right?” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said. “I explained everything pregame, to a ‘T.’ I did that. 70 (Skipper) reported, 68 (Decker) didn’t, that was the explanation.”
Decker said he approached the official and said, “Report.” Video evidence backs that up from several different angles. Dan Campbell and Jared Goff confirmed that side of the call, as well. And Skipper said he didn’t say a word to officials, despite the league claiming the exact opposite scenario in the game-deciding call.
