What about elsewhere in South Florida?
Miami-Dade County: Miami-Dade police are not planning a saturation checkpoint, said Detective Alvaro Zabaleta, a department spokesman.
City of Miami: Miami police have not announced if it has Memorial Day plans regarding checkpoints and did not respond to a Miami Herald query. But Miami police did post water safety tips on Twitter given that Memorial Day lures a lot of boaters to South Florida waters.
Driving safety: Miami-Dade Fire Rescue released a holiday safety “Play it Safe” checklist:
▪ Always wear your seat belt and make sure that all passengers do so as well. All infants and small children should be restrained in approved child safety seats.

What’s happening on Florida Keys roads?
Enforcement on Overseas Highway: In the Florida Keys, a popular day trip destination on the long Memorial Day weekend, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said its deputies “will be out in force” county-wide through the three-day holiday weekend Saturday through Monday to supplement road patrol, especially on U.S.1, “to make sure people are driving safely.”
