Dropped pass by Ravens’ Agholor brings back memories of viral interview with Philly hero

Nelson Agholar has 10 receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown through four games with the Baltimore Ravens.
But the former Philadelphia Eagle had a drop on Sunday that helped cost the Ravens a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Late in the third quarter, with the Ravens ahead 10-3, Agholor got behind the Pittsburgh defense for what looked to be an easy score, but he dropped the perfect pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson.
You can see the drop at this link. It was one of several by Baltimore receivers in a 17-10 loss that will sting for a very long time.
The missed catch brought back memories of what happened when Agholor, a former first-round draft pick, was with the Eagles in 2019 and dropped a game-winning touchdown against the Falcons. The following week, in a loss to the Detroit Lions, he had two more drops and a critical fumble.
To make things worse, a memorable interview with a Philadelphia hero who had rescued a family from an apartment fire went viral and was turned into a meme, drawing more scrutiny to Agholor’s misses.
Said the former fireman that night as he described the rescue: “My man started throwing babies out the window and we was catching them, unlike Agholor and his mishaps. I just want to put that out there.”
The fire and rescue occurred on the same day as that loss to the Lions.
Agholor would leave the Eagles after that 2019 season and then played a season in Las Vegas (48 catches, 8 TDs) and two in New England (68 catches, 5 TDs) before joining the Ravens in 2023.
