The 49ers’ win over the Cowboys is going to cost Dre Greenlaw some money. Per NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, San Francisco’s linebacker was fined for an unnecessary roughness penalty he picked up in the 49ers’ 19-12 victory in the divisional round.

Greenlaw was flagged late in the second quarter of that game when he leveled Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott after the RB stepped out of bounds.

The hit cost the 49ers 15 yards and might’ve worked to catalyze a game-changing score for the Cowboys after the 49ers tied the game at 6. San Francisco’s defense wound up stopping Dallas’ efforts to put points on the board before the half when Fred Warner intercepted Cowboys QB Dak Prescott.

While the hit didn’t cost the 49ers any points, it did cost Greenlaw $10,609 after the league issued a fine for the hit. This was the second time this year Greenlaw drew a fine for an illegal play. He was also fined the same amount for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Chargers QB Justin Herbert that got Greenlaw ejected from San Francisco’s Week 10 win over Los Angeles.
