Author and lawyer Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu has hit out at critics of Meghan Markle, telling them to leave the Duchess of Sussex alone.
Appearing on the Jeremy Vine On 5 programme, Dr Shola weighed in on the former royal with Alexis Conran and Andrew Pierce.
Presenter Alexis and his guests were discussing a recent poll suggesting Meghan’s popularity among the British people had plummeted to -47percent.
Alexis asked: “Is her behaviour the reason her popularity is plummeting?”
Dr Shola responded: “What behaviour?” Alexis listed the recent car chase with the paparazzi in New York.
She went on to say: “Let’s just understand this, Alexis.”
Dr Shola then looked down the lens of the camera as she directly addressed viewers: “Listen to me very carefully, people because I shall say this only once.
“Nobody gives a flying flamingo how you feel about Meghan Markle. I’m sorry but her popularity was never high in the first place.
“If it’s gone down by two percent or another five percent, Meghan doesn’t care.
“Nobody cares because the foundation upon which this slight is built on is absolutely ridiculous.”
Dr Shola went on to say: “She has been quiet since January since the documentary came out in November. It was Harry that came out with his book in January, it is Harry that’s doing a string of interviews around the world.”
Adding: “She said absolutely nothing and you still don’t like her. The problem here isn’t Meghan Markle, the problem here is you.
“Leave the woman alone. Leave her name out of your mouths.”
The new YouGov poll said the public opinion of the Duchess of Sussex was now at an all-time low among the 2,014 people surveyed.
Of those who took part, 68 percent had a negative view of Prince Harry’s wife while 21 percent had a positive perception.
YouGov has been recording Meghan’s net popularity with the public since she and Harry first started dating back in 2017.
