New South Wales Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant says to “assume everyone has COVID” to lessen the chances of the virus spreading after the state recorded a further 18 cases. “Continue to move about as if everybody you could come into contact with has COVID. That will help prevent any further chains of transmission,” she said. Dr Chant said it is important to “get those testing rates high”, particularly in the Fairfield and Bossley Park communities. “I would like to see incredibly high testing rates in those communities as we try to identify any unrecognised chains of transmission.” The state’s top health official also called on residents to not delay their vaccinations, saying it will offer protection from “hospitalisation and death”. “We also need people to continue to come out and get your vaccinations, particularly if you’re due for your second dose, don’t delay having those two doses.”
