Dortmund 2-2 Bayern: Oliver Kahn’s furious reaction to dramatic equaliser

Borussia Dortmund salvaged a precious point against Bayern Munich on Saturday evening in the most dramatic fashion possible.

Going into the final minute of stoppage-time in ‘Der Klassiker’, the men in yellow and black trailed 2-1 thanks to goals from Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane either side of half-time.

Teenage sensation Youssoufa Moukoko halved the deficit for Dortmund in the 75th minute of play, however, it looked for all the world that the 17-year-old’s record-breaking strike would be merely a consolation.

But with virtually the last kick of the game at Signal Iduna Park, summer signing Anthony Modeste levelled the scores at 2-2 with a brilliant back post header.

Nico Schlotterbeck’s assist was a thing of beauty too, the giant defender somehow keeping the ball in play before firing in an inch-perfect cross.

Modeste had missed a golden opportunity shortly before bagging the equaliser, so he’ll sleep a lot better tonight.

What a moment for Dortmund – and heartbreak for Bayern, who would’ve gone back to the top of the Bundesliga table with a win.

One man who clearly realised the hugely negative impact of the late, late goal was legendary goalkeeper, Oliver Kahn, who is also the current CEO of the Bavarian club.

The former Bayern shot-stopper was in the stands to enjoy the game and he absolutely lost his head after Modeste rippled the back of the net.

Even now, Kahn looks terrifying when he gets angry, doesn’t he? You wouldn’t fancy being the person sat next to him when the goal went in, that’s for sure.

Do he have a Bundesliga title race on our hands?

So, Bayern and Dortmund remain level on points in the Bundesliga, although the former are slightly ahead in the race standings due to their superior goal difference of +17.

But it’s Freiburg and Union Berlin who’re still the top two in the German top-flight and if they each pick up an away win on Sunday, they will both move four points clear of the champions and Dortmund.

There might just be an epic title race brewing in the Bundesliga this season…
