‘Don’t forget who the hell he is’ – Newcastle fans turn on the moaners ‘giving Kieran Trippier abuse’

Many Newcastle United fans have leapt to Kieran Trippier’s defence and hit back at criticism from a section of supporters for his “nightmare” performance against Everton on Thursday (7 December).

The lethargic Magpies were dealt a heavy blow at Goodison Park after a flurry of late goals from Dwight McNeil, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Beto secured Sean Dyche’s side a 3-0 win.

Much focus was on Trippier’s mistakes in the build-up to the Toffees’ first two strikes where he was caught in possession twice in the space of seven minutes, with both errors leading directly to a goal.

The Englishman has been one of Eddie Howe’s most dependable and effective stars since he arrived at Tyneside and this season alone he has bagged eight assists in 21 appearances in all competitions.

While he had a night to forget in Merseyside, Newcastle fans were quick to get behind the right-back and have taken to social media to back “one of the best defenders” in the Premier League.

This supporter urged other Magpies not to criticise Trippier considering their “unprecedented” injury issues which has left them with 12 first-team absentees.

One fan admitted that he had a poor game but was confident he would be back on form for Newcastle’s next clash – Tottenham.

Another fan was adamant that Trippier would be back to “do his stuff”.

One supporter hailed the 33-year-old’s consistency but was positive the club and Trippier would be back to their best soon enough.

One fan was confident that Trippier would take his mistakes seriously.

This supporter fumed at other Magpies for criticising Trippier as he has been an instrumental part of Newcastle’s recent success.

One fan felt that Trippier would have criticised himself more than any frustrated Magpie but was sure he’d be back as strong as ever.

This fan spotted that Trippier was visibly upset after the clash and was hopeful his teammates would give him the support he needs.
