When a horror franchise returns after a period of dormancy, there’s a high bar to clear. Halloween and Scream, for example, both rebooted their film series and had to grapple with the high expectations audiences undoubtedly put on them. Saw has an especially rough legacy to contend with. Over the course of its nine previous films, each film had varying degrees of quality in regards to both plot and its promised violent horror. Add in its biggest hurdle–the series’ main villain actually died back in the third film–and the idea of Saw X continuing on with the series’ storyline sounds like an impossible task for anyone looking to make the series tenth film.

But early reactions to Saw X have been positive. While some fans may argue the Saw film series hasn’t had a decent entry since its first film, it’s possible they could find a new favorite in Saw X. Chronologically slotted in between the first film and second, Saw X features the series original Jigsaw Killer played by Tobin Bell and his fan favorite apprentice Amanda, played by Shawnee Smith. While longtime fans are certainly familiar with the overall plot, Saw X hopes to add in more depth to what is one of the more exciting times in the series, while delivering scares worthy of an audience who ha seen nearly two decades of gory, thrilling traps and third act twists that catch them off guard.

Whether you’re ready to buy your ticket to the theater for Saw X or prefer to wait to watch it at home (presumably hidden under the covers), here’s what we know about when Saw X is hitting a streaming platform.

When Will Saw X Be Streaming?

Saw X is a Lionsgate film, meaning it will head to Starz, then Peacock, when it’s finished its theatrical run per the company’s deal with Universal. Looking at another major release as an example, John Wick 4 didn’t head to Starz until nearly six months after its release. For Saw X, that means we shouldn’t expect the film to be available at home until early 2024.
