Don’t Cry Because Kim Zolciak Is Divorcing Kroy Biermann, Smile Because Their Marriage Lasted 11 Years

Kim Zolciak, one of the original cast members of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, has filed for divorce from her husband of 11 years, former NFL player Kroy Biermann, TMZ reports.
Zolciak, who first appeared on RHOA in 2008, spent five seasons on the show. She and Biermann, who played for the Atlanta Falcons, received a spinoff wedding series on Bravo titled Don’t Be Tardy For The Wedding, which chronicled their wedding plans and the ceremony itself, which took place on November 11, 2011 (11/11/11).
That show was then restructured to focus on the couple’s family life and was renamed Don’t Be Tardy…; it lasted eight seasons until its cancellation in 2021.
During their time together, Zolciak, 44, and Biermann, 38, had four children: Kroy “KJ” Jr., 11, Kash, 10, and twins Kaia and Kane, 9.
Biermann also adopted Zolciak’s daughters from a previous relationship: Brielle, 26, and Ariana, 21. According to the documents Zolciak filed on April 30, the couple’s marriage is “irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation.”

News of the couple’s divorce comes on the heels of recent financial trouble for the pair. In February, it was reported that their Georgia mansion went into foreclosure after the couple defaulted on their mortgage payments, while TMZ reported this week that they pair owe more than a million dollars to the IRS.
I can’t say for sure, but it sounds like maybe they didn’t have a contingency plan in place when the reality TV money stopped flowing. We can only hope — for her sake, not ours — that Kim comes up with a “Don’t Be Tardy To The Party (2.0)” to shore up her savings.
