Donald Trump Supporters Slam Biden-Harris Time Honor, Compare It To Obama’s Nobel Prize

Donald Trump supporters are not feeling what they perceive as the latest snub to the outgoing President, taking to Twitter in droves to slam Time Magazine for naming the Biden-Harris campaign as their Person of the Year—comparing it to President Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize as well.

The comparisons came about on Nobel Peace Prize Day Dec. 10, when the honor for 2020 was awarded to the World Food Program, which received it for “its efforts to combat hunger, for its contribution to bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas and for acting as a driving force in efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict,” NBC News reports.

At the same time, TIME announced their list of honorees for 2020, giving the Biden-Harris ticket, which won the Presidential election, the top honor, while naming Dr. Anthony Fauci, Frontline Health Workers and Racial Justice Organizers as the Guardians of the Year. With both events coinciding on the same day, and Trump also missing out on the TIME honor despite being a finalist, his supporters took to Twitter to slam the fact that Biden-Harris were honors before even taking office, similarly to how Barack Obama was given a Nobel Peace Prize in 2009—after his election win, but before he officially took office.

However, some still defended the decision, stating that the honor was given to the Biden-Harris ticket because of the message they promoted of unity during their campaign, while others took the moment to further criticize Trump.

Criticism of the Biden-Harris administration has only continued since the election was called in their favor in November, as both the Trump Administration and some of his supporters have continued to contest the results, claiming the election was stolen and filing lawsuits to try and overturn the results.
