Indiana has voted for a Republican in 11 of the past 12 presidential elections, reliably serving as a Republican stronghold. The state is home to one major down-ballot race in the 5th Congressional District in central Indiana.

The state is firmly in Republican control, with Republicans holding both houses of the state Legislature, the governorship, and nine of the state’s 11 congressional seats. Indiana has 11 electoral votes and was not expected by analysts to be competitive.
