Don Chapman expected to be available against Notre Dame

UNC football senior defensive back Don Chapman is expected to be back for the Tar Heels this upcoming week after missing UNC’s game against Georgia State in week two.

Chapman was arrested on September 8th and charged with ‘domestic criminal trespassing, assault on a female, and misdemeanor battery of an unborn child’.

After the initial report came out, it was reported that ‘the judge read the police report which stated that Chapman’s pregnant girlfriend threatened to commit suicide. According to the report, when Chapman took the gun away from her, the assault occurred. The report cited no injuries occurred, and that his girlfriend was charged with simple assault’, according to WRAL.

On Monday, InsideCarolina’s Ross Martin reported that Chapman is expected to be available for this weekend’s matchup with Notre Dame.

Chapman is part of an experienced but injury plagued secondary that has struggled thus far this season.

Last year, Chapman collected 27 tackles and three pass breakups in eight games and four starts.

So far this season, Chapman has three tackles.

Kickoff for UNC’s matchup with Notre Dame is scheduled for 3:30 pm ET on ABC.
