Dolly Parton is asking her fans for a simple birthday gift this year.
The country music icon shared a special message on social media to mark her 75th birthday on Tuesday, urging her fans to put in the work to make the world a better place. “This year my birthday wish is a call for kindness,” Parton wrote. “We can’t just hope for a brighter day, we have to work for a brighter day. Love too often gets buried in a world of hurt and fear. So today, January 19th, let’s get to unearthing love.”

Parton is certainly working for a brighter day. In the last year alone, the musician donated $1 million to coronavirus research, held a virtual storytime series to read bedtime stories to kids during quarantine, and launched an apparel collection with drag star Nina West to benefit LGBTQ+ youth and children’s literacy. (Oh, and she also moved Stephen Colbert to tears with her performance of a sad song on The Late Show.)
Parton released her latest album, A Holly Dolly Christmas, in October, and starred in the Netflix musical Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square, released in November.
