This year and the last brought plenty of new hairstyles for this BTS member. That includes mini-ponytails, blue locks, and blonde highlights. For the “Butter” music video, some fans noticed that Jungkook’s hair somewhat changed colors.

Here’s what we know about the youngest member of this K-pop group and his hairstyles for the boy band’s latest release.

They’re smooth like butter. In 2021, BTS released the single “Butter,” a smooth summer track featuring RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. Within a matter of hours, this music video, posted to YouTube, earned millions of views.

It even surpassed the record previously held by “Dynamite” for the most views on a YouTube video in 24 hours. This “Butter” video included plenty of bright colors and fun dance moves from the members.

That includes the youngest vocalist in this K-pop group, Jungkook, who had purple hair for most of the “Butter” music video. However, in some scenes, this performer’s hair seemed to change colors.

Is Jungkook’s hair blue at one point during the BTS music video?

After Jimin gave his “speech” during the music video, the BTS members appeared in red, blue, yellow, and green clothes. While watching the music video for the first time, even J-Hope noticed that Jungkook’s purple hair almost looked blue.

The youngest member said that he didn’t dye it a different color for this specific scene. This new hue was an intentional difference, though.

“It’s purple hair, but it looks kind of like a blue color,” J-Hope said, turning to the youngest member of the K-pop group, according to a fan translation on YouTube.

“There’s actually a behind story,” Jungkook said. “The chroma in the back is a similar color, so the [hair] color is like that.”

“That’s why you did it that way — on purpose,” Jin added.

The ‘Butter’ era wouldn’t be the first time BTS’ Jungkook dyed his hair

The BTS members are known for changing their hair colors, and Jungkook is no exception. In the past, this idol dyed his hair blue, blonde, pink, and colors in-between. His natural hair color, though, is black, which he sometimes sports for specific BTS eras.

RM, one of the rappers in the group, is known for sporting silver hair. For the “Boy With Luv” music video, Jimin sported pink locks, while V had his hair a shade of blue. The “Dynamite” era brought new colors to the BTS members’ wardrobes and hairstyles.

The “Butter” music video is now available on YouTube. Music by BTS, including their recently released album, Map of the Soul: 7, is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major platforms.
