Dodie Boy Jr. hangs up gloves

DODIE Boy Peñalosa Jr. has officially retired from boxing.

Peñalosa, 29, announced in his official Facebook account that although he still has a lot to prove on top of the ring, he has decided to turn a new chapter of his life.

“I will hang up my gloves and move on to my new life,” said Peñalosa in his post.

Peñalosa is now living in the United States with his wife.

Peñalosa made his US debut in 2015 and won a unanimous decision over Stephon McIntryre. He won all six of his fights there and last saw action in 2016 with a stoppage win over DeWayne Wisdom.

Peñalosa was once one of the most promising prospects in the country. But somehow, he never fought big names and was never able to fight for a championship. Peñalosa ends his career with an impressive 19-0 slate that includes 15 wins by way of knockout.

Peñalosa is the son of two-division world champion Dodie Boy Peñalosa and the nephew of former World Boxing Council (WBC) super flyweight and World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight king Gerry Peñalosa.
