Dodgers vs. Rays results, score: Dodgers win 2020 World Series in drama-filled Game 6
Rays #Rays
The third time is, in fact, the charm for the Dodgers.
Their third visit in the last four years to the World Series proved to be the most fruitful, with Los Angeles winning Game 6 and the 2020 World Series on Tuesday night, by a score of 3-1.
As it turns out, 3 is the magic number: Three runs for the Dodgers, third World Series appearance in four years, their first World Series win in over three decades. Not bad. A little poetic, no?
It wasn’t entirely easy: The Dodgers got minimal production from starter Tony Gonsolin, who was pulled after just 1 2/3 innings and a run allowed, and manager Dave Roberts had to piece together a bullpen effort for the victory. From Dylan Floro to Alex Wood to Pedro Baez to Victor Gonzalez to Brusdar Graterol to Julio Urias, the LA bullpen pitched a shutout and the staff as a whole held the Rays’ offense to just five hits en route to the clinching victory.
It’ll be a night to forget for Rays manager Kevin Cash, who pulled a dominant Blake Snell in the sixth inning and caught heat for the decision from all corners of the baseballverse when it happened. The move backfired on him: The Dodgers wound up scoring two runs off Nick Anderson to take the lead for good.
After three decades — there’s that 3 again — the Dodgers are World Series champions.
