Heads were scratched when Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner was pulled from Game 6 of the 2020 World Series. They wouldn’t have to wait long for an answer.

Per Fox’s postgame broadcast, Turner tested positive for COVID-19 and was pulled midgame after being made aware of the result.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported that Turner’s tests weren’t a question of a false positive, with tests coming back positive and conclusive before the game.

There were no immediate reports if Turner was the sole positive test.

Considering MLB moved into a bubble to prevent positive tests during the postseason, it’s concerning and confusing how a positive test both came about and how the Dodgers were unaware of it until midgame. Teammates were also alerted to Turner’s test and were asked to mask up in the dugout, per the NY Post’s Joel Sherman.

MLB succeeded by limiting tests in the postseason, with Turner’s positive the lone confirmed test during the playoffs. Turner, though, seems to be in good spirits.
