“Do you have any tissues?” Today hosts Ally Langdon and Karl Stefanovic receive the Covid vaccination

Today Show hosts Ally Langdon and Karl Stefanovic have demonstrated to the nation the importance of getting the COVID-19 vaccination, rolling up their sleeves for the cameras as they received their jab at the mass vaccination hub at Olympic Park in Sydney.

The presenters were treated like any other regular citizen, arriving outside the facility before being processed through the check-in, which included showing health workers their QR code, and then being allocated to a spot in the hub.

In true Ally and Karl style the hosts took a few cheeky jabs at each other before receiving their injection.

“Do you have any tissues? My colleague, he might cry when he gets his,” Ally teased.

The breakfast show duo, who are both in their 40s, were able to book an appointment after the Pfizer vaccine was made available to the 40-49 age group.

The entire process didn’t take more than 15 minutes but participants are encouraged to stay back so health workers can observe their reaction to the dose.

Of course, Karl, 46, couldn’t help but make a self-deprecating joke when a healthcare worker asked him what age group he fell into.

“Yes. The lower end of that, of course,” he laughed.

“Did it hurt your hands touching the guns?” he asked.

Ally and Karl will have to wait three weeks before they can get their second inoculation but the pair said they felt well the morning after their first dose.

The hosts said it was “painless” and that they “felt fine.”

The Today show Instagram also joked that the real “side effect” was “Karl’s dad jokes” and his dishevelled “hairstyle.”

“@karlstefanovic_ and @allisonlangdon got a taste of their own medicine and had the #covidvacccine! 💉 We’re not sure which side effect was worse – Karl’s dad jokes or his hairstyle… 😅,” the post read.
