Dmitry Bivol consolidates his place as one of the best fighters in the world by defeating a disappointing Zurdo Ramirez

Bivol #Bivol

In a class of boxing, Dmitry Bivol retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) lightheavy weight title by defeating Mexican Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez by a wide unanimous decision in Abu Dhabi.

The Russian showed why he defeated Canelo Alvarez and why he should be considered one of the best fighters of the moment. The champion dominated the challenger from start to finish and easily defeated him.

Ramirez started the fight slow, his punches carried some power, but no speed. Bivol looked good, with his guard up, throwing few combinations, but effective.

The fight also stood out in the stands, there were many Mexicans chanting “Zurdo, zurdo”, immediately the Russian fans responded with a “Bivol, Bivol”. In the ring the fight was developing slowly, Ramirez was setting the pace and Dmitry was falling down. Everything was slow, calmly.

Ramirez was throwing the one two to Bivol’s face, the Russian was answering, the Mexican was answering. The two exchanged shrapnel, the one who came out better was the European.

The Zurdo, very technical, tried to put combinations of three punches or more, but the speed of Bivol made the difference. The Mexican and the Russian took things calmly, waiting for the best moment to attack. Bivol crashed a right to the Aztec’s face that shook him from head to toe.

Bivol was faster and more precise, he entered with the right and with the left, the Mexican was going with a lot of impetus, but with few ideas, and above all very slow, he warned too much his attacks. He landed two right hands that moved the Mexican to the ground.

The last rounds arrived, for the Zurdo it was kill or be killed, in the scorecards he was widely surpassed by Bivol.

Ramirez wanted to go forward, but was met with two-punch combinations. Bivol became a machine gun, he threw his arsenal on the humanity of Ramirez, who stoically received the punishment, but had no response. The Mexican was widely outclassed, he had no way to answer the offensive of his enemy.

Bivol was playing with the elbow, he knew he had the fight in the bag, he walked backwards, then approached, then released combinations of two and three punches and connected. The Mexican had gone for a walk in Abu Dhabi.

The last round came and Ramirez was expected to come out all out, but he couldn’t do anything, his slowness made the task easier for Bivol. The Russian knew the prey was his and played with it as he wanted and when he wanted.

The fight ended and the judges gave the victory to Dmitry Bivol. The judges saw the fight: 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111 all for the champion.
