© Provided by WCVB Boston The USGS says a 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Massachusetts in Buzzards Bay on the morning of Nov. 8, 2020.
An earthquake struck off the coast of Massachusetts at 9:10 a.m., the U.S. Geological Survey confirmed.
The rumble with a 4.0 magnitude was centered on Buzzards Bay, southwest of Bliss Corner in Dartmouth, the USGS said, and struck at a depth of a little more than 15 kilometers (9.3 miles).

Initially, the USGS report indicated the magnitude of the earthquake may have been as high as 4.2. That was later revised downward.
NewsCenter 5 received reports of people feeling it from New Bedford to East Bridgewater, up to Natick and as far as Granby. Residents of Rhode Island and Connecticut have also reported feeling the earthquake.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said it has not received any reports of damage or injuries caused by the earthquake, and added that there is no tsunami danger from the quake.
According to USGS records, the last time New England saw an earthquake this strong was on Oct. 16, 2012, when a 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck near Saco, Maine.
