Diane Warren, Tina Karol release ‘One Nation Under Love’ to show support for Ukraine on Independence Day

Ukrainian star Tina Karol and iconic American songwriter Diane Warren presented a song dedicated to Ukraine and Ukrainians – “One Nation Under Love” – for Ukraine’s Independence Day on Aug. 24.

The song was composed by the legendary Dianne Warren, who has won Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys, and Emmys for writing for artists like Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Cher, Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, and Aerosmith.

Diane Warren expressed her support for the Ukrainian people:

“I wrote a song about a country that I sympathize with, that I admire, (and) that is forced to fight for its freedom,” said Diane Warren.

“It is about a country that is not an enemy, but is intelligent, value-oriented, capable of uniting nations, proving that it is a leading country. I sincerely believe in Ukraine’s victory. I was looking for a voice that could convincingly perform a social song for the whole world, and I saw this scale of voice in Tina Karol. Glory to Ukraine! Victory and resilience!”

One of the biggest music stars in Ukraine, Tina Karol is perhaps best known for finishing seventh at Eurovision 2006 with her hit ‘Show Me Your Love’, which she partially reprised at Eurovision 2023 in Manchester.

The single “One Nation Under Love” includes two versions of the song, one in English and one in Ukrainian.

“It is my heart’s calling to create a social song, as a support and as a shield,” Karol said.

“It’s more than a track – it’s a mission. I am grateful to fate that I met Diane. I will never stop and never get tired of being convincing, of being talented for the sake of the struggle that cleanses us from the past and defends our freedom.”

The Ukrainian version of “One Nation Under Love – One Heartbeat” premiered on 1+1 TV during the Independence Day special broadcast. The performance took place by teleconference: Karol performed the song near Kyiv’s Mother Ukraine Monument, while Warren accompanied the singer in the shadow of New York’s Statue of Liberty.
