Decision questioned as Aston Villa team to play Man United revealed
Buendia #Buendia
Aston Villa fans have been questioning Steven Gerrard’s decision not to include Emi Buendia in the starting XI against Manchester United in Australia this morning.
In what could mirror the manager’s selection for the first game of the new Premier League season – when Villa take on Bournemouth on the opening weekend – Gerrard has gone for a strong team to take on the Red Devils.
But the exclusion of the Argentine playmaker has caused consternation. Many supporters have taken to Twitter to wonder why he’s been left out of the team and, therefore, may not start against the Cherries in a fortnight.

Here’s what Villa fans have been saying…
Bairdy: Love it but how Gerrard thinks this is our strongest eleven and Buendia is not in it is beyond me.
Lee Harrison: Decent.. but would rather Buendia in ahead of Ings.
Ben: Lads, seriously, where’s Bailey, where’s Buendia?
PC23: Gerard clearly doesn’t know his best team. It may be a pre-season friendly but Gerrard’s hungry to win the game to have a positive start before we play Bournemouth. Mings and McGinn in the starting 11 will not push us forward.
All Things Villa: Looks like what we are likely to see vs Bournemouth. Shame we can’t find space for Buendia, but great option off the bench, and Coutinho won’t be able to start 38 games.
FG10: Like the two up top – think that is how we see the best of Ings and Watkins. Hopefully Buendia gets minutes.
Romario: If Coutinho keeps Buendia out the side due to favouritism then it’s a terrible signing. In 2022, Buendia is better than him.
Chris Jones: Think this will be close to our starting 11 when the season begins. #UTV
Ry: Everyone going on about Mings in the team like he’s not still gonna be captain and a starter In our team. Know-it-alls are out before the seasons even commenced, typical.
Ben Spittle: Not our strongest team but a good team either way.
Jack Duggan: Arguably our strongest line-up. UTV.
jack Lynch: Experimenting to find his strongest starting squad, not that hard to realise.
Adam: The comments! It’s pre-season, man.
