‘Dear God’: Aussie stunner as Cam Green becomes second-most expensive IPL player EVER

Cameron Green has made Australian cricket history, going for a remarkable 17.5 crore – roughly $3.15 million in Aussie dollars – at the Indian Premier League auction.
The 23-year-old was expected to gather interest but an enormous bidding war erupted for his services between the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, the latter eventually winning his services.
It came just minutes after fellow all-rounder and England World Cup star Sam Curran became the most expensive buy in IPL history at 18.5 crore ($3.38 million).

But while Curran’s recent T20 form has suggested he was worth the payday, Green’s track record is not quite as lengthy. He has played just eight T20 internationals, belting 61 from 30 deliveries against India in September, plus 52 from 21 balls a few matches later.
Yet his incredible talent saw Mumbai decide he was worth becoming the second-most expensive player at an IPL auction ever, and the most expensive Aussie, surpassing Pat Cummins (15.5 crore in 2021).
Green joins compatriots Tim David and Jason Behrendorff at Mumbai.
The Indians finished last in the most recent IPL season but they have won the league five times, the most of any team.
