Australia opener David Warner, who is racing against time to get fit for the second Test, sent a congratulatory message to Tim Paine’s side after they clinched a 1-0 lead in the 4-match Test series against India in Adelaide.

Warner took to social media to send the congratulatory message to Australian team after they defeated India by 8 wickets to take 1-0 lead in the 4-match series.”Unreal win by the lads today, bowlers what an effort today!! Simply unbelievable day of cricket. @joeburns441 hits winnings runs so good. So happy for you legend,” David Warner said in his social media post.

Warner had said he was aiming to play the Boxing Day Test against India in Melbourne, calling his injury-enforced absence from the opening clash in Adelaide “devastating”.

Pink-ball Test, Day 3: Highlights

Warner limped out of Australia’s 2nd ODI against the tourists last month in agony after straining his groin.

“I am (hopeful), that’s one that I never want to miss out on,” Warner told Australian sports radio network SEN about the Melbourne Test.

Australia romped to an emphatic victory by eight wickets in the first test at Adelaide Oval on Saturday after skittling India for 36, their lowest innings score in 88 years of test cricket.

Hazlewood and Pat Cummins (4-21) turned a tight test on its head in a devastating spell of pace bowling to open the third day of the day-night test, ripping through the much vaunted Indian batting line-up in less than two hours.

Australia chased down the victory target of 90 runs for the loss of Matthew Wade (33) and Marnus Labuschagne (6) to take a 1-0 lead in the series with tests to come in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
