David Moyes ‘fuming at half-time’ as Roy Keane lets rip at ‘disgraceful’ West Ham

Roy Keane says David Moyes would have been fuming with his West Ham players as they went into half-time 4-0 down at home to Arsenal. Goals from William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel and Leandro Trossard killed the match before the break.

Thousands of West Ham fans left the London Stadium in sheer embarrassment at being thumped by their local rivals. And Keane tore into the Hammers players for being so far off the pace.

“This is just rubbing salt through the wounds. West Ham, absolutely shocking,” Keane said. “There’s no movement, no attempts to make a tackle, credit to Arsenal because they’re making the most of it but this is so poor. Trossard gets to take two touches, great finish but I can’t believe what I’m watching – it is shocking from West Ham.

“The last ten or 15 minutes, they’ve been an absolute disgrace. The first half-an-hour was a bit cagey because they put Arsenal under a little bit of pressure but after that, it was so poor.

“Odegaard hasn’t even had a glove laid on him and there’s ways to lose a game of football but the way West Ham are doing it, they look sluggish, they look old, they’re looking back, there’s no hunger, no desire. David Moyes must be fuming at halftime.

“All credit to Arsenal, they’ve turned up, flexed their muscles and they deserve the lead but West Ham – disgrace.”

Arsenal will move to within two points of Premier League leaders Liverpool with the win, albeit Manchester City will go top by one point if they win their game in hand.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson feared Arsenal would be out of the title race had they dropped points at West Ham.

He said: “They’re just hanging on the coattails but it’s a big game. I think if they lose today, they’re out of it, 100 per cent. Completely and utterly.

“If Man City win their game in hand, that’s six points with 14 or so games left. At the start of the season, if you gave me 100 games for them to close the gap and Man City had a six-point lead at the start, I’d say Man City every day of the week. With only that many games left, it’s a must-win game for Arsenal.”
