David De Gea’s Massive Injury Time Mistake Ends Manchester United’s 100% Record Under Erik Ten Hag

De Gea #DeGea

Manchester United’s perfect record under Erik ten Hag came to an end after a howler from David De Gea at the very last second against Aston Villa.

Building on previous performances, the Red Devils were 2-0 up and flying in the first half courtesy of a strike from Jadon Sancho and an own goal from Matty Cash.

But Villa pulled one back through substitute Leon Bailey’s curling strike from outside the area and then levelled matters with the last kick of the game.

Calum Chambers headed home the equaliser in what was more or less a free header but De Gea was blasted on social media for being completely hesitant to come out and claim the corner swung in.

The Spanish goalkeeper has been guilty of lacking bravery and proactiveness in those types of scenarios in his time at United and it’s something that Ten Hag won’t be pleased about.

De Gea got away with one earlier on in the half when, in a carbon copy situation, he flapped big time and was lucky that Ezri Konsa couldn’t stab the ball in.

Next up for United is a clash against Atletico Madrid in Oslo, Norway, on Saturday 30 July, before a final fixture against another La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano a day later at Old Trafford.
