Dave Hughes is not afraid to ruffle feathers.

And on Wednesday, the comedian raised eyebrows when he revealed the bizarre ingredient he adds to his cup of Milo.

In an Instagram video, the 50-year-old settled a long-standing debate among Australian on how to make the perfect cup of Milo.

He then shared his recipe for the perfect cup, calling his version the ‘best tasting’.

‘The best way [to make Milo] is soy milk and a pinch of salt,’ he revealed.

While fans were quick to share their recipes, Gogglebox stars Lee and Keith weren’t having Hughesy’s take on the Australian classic.

‘Omg… Soy milk and salt, are you insane Hughesy?’ they wrote, before sharing their own recipe which required three teaspoons of Milo, hot water, full cream cow milk and marshmallows.

Despite this, Dave stood by his the unusual choice of ingredients saying: ‘These days I’m all about the soy milk with the pinch of salt.’

The radio host urged others not to ‘knock it until you’ve tried it’.

Hughesy recently spoke about his decision to adopt a plant-based diet after watching the pro-vegan Netflix documentary The Game Changers in October 2019.

Speaking to Body+Soul in February about the diet change, he said: ‘It’s actually a miracle. I’m going to call it a miracle! I’m shocked by how good my body is at the moment.’

‘I woke up stiff and sore for 15 bloody years, I reckon. Now I can go down the stairs in the morning without going sideways – I go front ways because I’m not sore at all.’

Despite the lifestyle making ordering meals at restaurants a ‘little tricky’ sometimes, Dave said it was ‘well worth it’.
