Dave Hughes’ wife isn’t a fan of his trademark gap-toothed smile.

The comedian, who is missing ten teeth due to poor oral hygiene, revealed on Monday that his wife-of-twenty-years Holly had previously threatened to stop having sex with him if he lost any more teeth.

‘I’ve lost a number of teeth in [my] 20 years [of marriage],’ the 51-year-old funnyman said on Monday’s Hughesy, Ed and Erin breakfast show.

‘I haven’t lost a tooth in three or four years, which is exceptional because they were falling out left, right and centre at one point. Like, dropping like flies,’ he added.

Hughes, who is now almost missing one-third of his 32 teeth, said Holly eventually took a stand.

‘My wife did say at one point, “If you lose any more teeth it’s all over. No more intimate times for you” – which I thought was disappointing… but anyway, I’m not going to go down that track’.

Co-host Erin Molan also revealed that she previously dated a rugby player whose false teeth once fell out while they were kissing.

Despite the faux pas, Erin said she continued dating the unnamed sportsman for four years after the incident.

It comes after Hughs admitted Holly once claimed he looked like a ‘meth addict’ due to his lack of teeth.

‘My wife is worried. She says I’m starting to look like a meth addict!’ he said on his Channel 10 show Hughesy, We Have A Problem in 2018.

Hughes explained his teeth were falling out more rapidly because he was raised in the ‘country’ and consumed a great deal of ‘orange juice’.

‘But I’m from the county and [my wife is] from the city and when you’re from the country and your teeth fall out, you get on with your day,’ he told the studio audience.

The funnyman added: ‘But when you’re from the city, you got to keep them in your mouth your whole life.’

‘One of my problems right now is that I am missing a number of teeth,’ he said. ‘Not just one, two, three… I’m missing 10 teeth!’

Later, the drive time radio host said his wife Holly ‘forced’ him to go to a specialist to have his gappy grin corrected.

And Hughesy suffered even more misfortune at his appointment with the specialist.

‘The person took an X-ray of my mouth, and told me I don’t have enough ‘jaw’ to fit the bolts to put in the false teeth,’ he said.

Dave revealed that in order to rectify his lack of jaw, he could have opted for a lengthy ‘bone graph’.

‘Take some hip bone, put that in your mouth and then you wait six months to see whether that nips with your jawbone and if it does, you’ll have enough room for the bolts so we can start drilling,’ he said of the procedure.
