Darrigo, Pereira earn major MVC football awards

Central Catholic and Tewksbury were the big winners when the Merrimack Valley Conference announced its football awards on Friday for the Fall II season.

Central junior Ayden Pereira was named Athlete of the Year for MVC Division 1, while Tewksbury senior Kyle Darrigo earned the same honor for Division 2.

Tewksbury’s Will McKay was named Division 2 Defensive Player of the Year. Coach of the Year honors went to Central’s Chuck Adamopoulous and Tewksbury’s Brian Aylward.

Central’s Division 1 All-Conference selections were seniors Tommy Casey, Mark Ciccarelli, Nick Mazzie, Uyi Osayimwen and Jermaine Wiggins, the junior Pereira, and sophomores Mathias Latham and Preston Zinter.

Lowell seniors George Dristiliaris, Nathan Kem and Jeremias Santana, and junior Aaron Morris were also selected in Division 1.

In Division 2, Tewksbury seniors Darrigo, Michael Duggan, Michael Kelly, McKay, Kalu Olu and Ryne Rametta, and juniors Cole Kimtis and Davenche Sydney were named All-Conference.

Billerica’s Joe Dufour, Scott Einarson, Dom Gird and Jakob Oliver earned nods. Chelmsford was represented by Ryan Blagg, Nick Bottomley, George Fredricks and Steven McKinney. Dracut’s Mitchell Cripps, Adil Njikam and Alex Reis were also chosen.
