Former England and Leeds defender, Danny Mills, has questioned why Ben White has chosen to join Arsenal this summer ahead of other clubs.
White is set to complete a £50m move to the Gunners, with a medical set for this week and personal terms all but agreed.
The signing of White will bring an end to one of the longer running transfer sagas of the summer already. The Gunners have tracked the England man for some time now, and finally appear to be getting their man.

However, speaking to Talksport today, former England man Mills questioned why White has decided to join Arsenal.

“The only thing I am surprised at is Ben White has gone to Arsenal. Let’s assume that he will be at Arsenal for two or three years at least before he goes somewhere else. I just think he is better than that,” Mills said.
“Because he has got better chance of winning things. What is he going to win at Arsenal? League Cup, if he is lucky. Maybe the FA Cup. I think he is an exceptional player and I think he is a fantastic signing for Arsenal. I am just a little bit surprised that Manchester United, who are looking for a centre-half, haven’t come in for him.”
In a way, yes. But still, a move from Brighton to Arsenal is something of a step up for White regardless. Yes, Old Trafford would be nice, but Manchester United are hardly winning trophies by the bucket load either.
Mills suggests White will eventually move on from Arsenal anyway. And it’s easy to see that happening, especially if the Gunners keep missing out on trophies.
Still, White will be excited to complete this move and Arsenal are still getting a fine player.
