Danny Ings’ Injury Time Equaliser For Southampton Ruled Out By Controversial VAR Decision

Ross Barkley, who is on loan from Chelsea, fired Villa into the lead at St Mary’s before half-time.
Southampton thought they had snatched an equaliser deep into second-half injury time as Ings had the ball in the back of the net.
However, the 28-year-old Southampton forward was ruled offside by a tiny margin, with the Saints once again losing out on a VAR call in their favour.
Speaking after the 1-0 win, Cash admitted that ‘luck was on their side’ and called it a “fantastic result” for Villa.
The 23-year-old right-back told Sky Sports: “This is a tough place to come, but I felt we defended really well.
“A welcome three points. We had a lot of great characters everywhere.
“We watched them in the week, they are a fantastic team and move the ball really well, but this season we have been fantastic defensively so to come here and take a clean sheet is fantastic.
“Luck was on our side. A fantastic result, we can build on it.”
When it came to the controversial VAR decision in the first half, Cash explained: “It is hard to defend with your hands behind your back — sprinting around at full pace.
“I think it hit my quad first, the rules are a bit bad at the moment.”
