Daniel Farke press conference LIVE: Leeds United boss reacts to concerning Birmingham loss

Daniel Farke’s Leeds United press conference is taking place at St Andrew’s after today’s clash with Birmingham City. Follow everything the manager has to say about Saturday afternoon’s match below as we bring you most of the questions and answers in full from the debrief.

Before the match, Farke made three changes to the team which beat Shrewsbury Town on Wednesday night in the EFL Cup, though Luis Sinisterra was conspicuous by his absence. Illan Meslier, predictably, returned in goal in place of Karl Darlow.

Pascal Struijk came into defence as Ethan Ampadu shuffled forward to take Darko Gyabi’s place. Then, at left-back, Sam Byram was given his second full debut for the Whites with Leo Hjelde dropping to the bench.

The first half was a dire episode of football. Each team lacked quality in the final third and left the goalkeepers as virtual spectators watching the game play out between them. Daniel James carried some threat, but there was no final product or penetration around the area.

The second half saw barely any difference in events. There were a fraction more chances for each team, but it was a game which continued to lack the quality deserving of a win until a late penalty for the hosts decided it.
