Good Tuesday #GoodTuesday
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Good Tuesday morning. A few flurries will be expected for the early morning hours with bitter cold wind chill values ranging from -9 to 5 degrees, dress very warm even for short periods of time spent outdoors.
As expected, the roadways are still covered in snow and sleet and will lead to very difficult and hazardous driving conditions… please travel only if absolutely needed. Wind Chill Warnings and Wind Chill Advisories are in effect through 9:00 AM CST Wednesday. This is dangerous cold to people, pets and pipes. Cold weather safety and good judgement should be exercised. Today will start off mainly cloudy with gradual clearing and peeks of sunshine into the afternoon, high temperatures will reach the upper teens to lower 20s. The wind chill for most of the day will stay in the single digits because of the breezy north-northwest wind.
Skies are clear overnight and temps will plummet into the lower single digits by daybreak Wednesday! Wednesday will at least bring more sunshine but high temperatures will only top out around 30 degrees with a light southwesterly wind. Thursday will be a warmer day and the melting of the snow and ice will finally begin, highs are forecast to be in the upper 30s to lower 40s before another system and trailing cold front moves in from the west. Scattered rain showers will likely develop by late morning into the afternoon and can potentially mix in with some sleet or snow by Thursday evening, no snow or sleet accumulation is expected.
Behind the cold front, another surge of cold air will settle in for Friday and the weekend with high temperatures staying in the 20s and 30s through Sunday. Next week is trending warmer with chances for rain showers and isolated thunderstorms returning to the Tennessee Valley.
