D’Andre Swift is a Philadelphia Eagle. Howie Roseman talks about why he made the move

Howie Roseman said he didn’t go into the NFL Draft feeling as though his Philadelphia Eagles had to add a running back, but when the opportunity came to pick up D’Andre Swift it just made too much sense.
Swift is a hometown guy, having starred at St. Joseph’s Prep before heading off to Georgia, and the Eagles GM said he was well-aware of the “big-play threat” that he could add to the offense.
“He’s got vision,” Roseman said.
But then he switched gears. Talent wasn’t the only reason Roseman made the move — he shipped a fourth-rounder next year and swapped seventh-rounders this year — to bring in Swift.
“Obviously, tremendous character adds to that,” Roseman said on ESPN. “We didn’t go into the draft feeling like this was a position we had to have, but we felt like this was a player who added to our culture and to our team.”
Roseman then quipped that he was sure he was “out of the Florida alumni” association.
And maybe so.
Because Swift was the fourth former Georgia Bulldog added to the roster during this draft. The team also picked defensive lineman Jalen Carter and linebacker Nolan Smith in the first round, and cornerback Kelee Ringo in the third. And, last year, the team took defensive tackle Jordan Davis and linebacker Nakobe Dean in the draft.
It has been an impressive body of work for the Super Bowl runners-up.
Swift figures to step in and replace Miles Sanders, who signed with the Carolina Panthers, as the lead back in Philadelphia.
Swift battled some injuries last season, but still managed 5.5 yards per carry while rushing for 542 yards. He also caught 48 passes for 389 yards and three touchdowns. He has run for 1,680 yards — averaging 4.6 yards per carry — with 18 touchdowns through three season in the league. He also has 156 receptions for 1,198 yards and seven more scores.
