Dana White wants to see Tyron Woodley retire from MMA following a third straight loss at UFC on ESPN+ 36.

Woodley (19-6-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC), the former longtime welterweight champion, saw his career-long losing skid continue on Saturday when he suffered a fifth-round TKO defeat to Covington (15-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) in the headlining bout, which took place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas and streamed on ESPN+.

Although “The Chosen One” is only 16 months removed from dropping the UFC belt, his string of defeats to Covington, Gilbert Burns and Kamaru Usman have seen him lose 14 consecutive rounds concluding with a stoppage.

In light of his recent record, White thinks the 38-year-old should considering moving on from the sport.

“I think he should start thinking about hanging it up,” White told reporters, including MMA Junkie, at the UFC on ESPN+ 36 post-fight news conference. “He’s had a great career. He’s made his money.

“… We all get old, man. This happens to the best of us. Woodley’s had a good career. He’s been a champion. He’s been around awhile. He had a good run in Strikeforce, too.”

White did not share whether he expressed his opinion directly to Woodley yet, and confirmed the fighter suffered a rib injury in the fight-ending sequence with Covington.
