Dallas Cowboys’ Micah Parsons still holds a grudge about Eagles trade: ‘Still beef’

Eagles #Eagles

You know that Super Bowl run that the Eagles made last season? Well, Dallas Cowboys’ linebacker Micah Parsons holds the Tennessee Titans partially responsible — because they handed the Eagles a weapon they didn’t have: a game-breaking and franchise-changing wide receiver.

When the Eagles shocked the NFL by acquiring A.J. Brown and then signed him to a four-year $100 million contract last April, it gave Jalen Hurts the piece he needed to become a Pro Bowl quarterback. With the Titans unwilling to commit dollars and years to Brown, the Eagles swooped in and grabbed a transformational player — while the Cowboys and the rest of the NFL watched.

Brown caught 88 passes for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns last season — and took pressure and attention off second-year receiver Devonta Smith, who added 95 catches for 1,196 yards and seven TDs.

With a prolific offense, the Eagles rolled past the Cowboys to win the NFC East and on to the Super Bowl. And now the Cowboys must face Brown twice every season.

“I don’t know how Tennessee trades him,” Parsons said as part of Bleacher Report’s draft coverage. “I don’t understand that. He (is) the best receiver and you let him go because he wanted to get paid? And then he outperforms what you were trying to pay him? Like c’mon Tennessee. That’s why they are in shambles and they getting rid of everybody right now.

“And you send him over the Eagles? I’m still angry about that trade. It’s still beef right now. It’s still beef.”

In two games against the Cowboys last season, Brown caught 11 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown. Hurts was sidelined for one of those contests.
