The Dallas Cowboys just lost Dak Prescott to a gruesome leg injury.
It happened in the middle of the third quarter of Dallas’ Week 5 matchup with the Giants, as Prescott attempted to scramble for a first down but came down awkwardly on his leg while being tackled.
We’re not going to show it here due to the very graphic nature of it. It was as bad of a leg injury as you’ll see, and you can only hope it turns out to be not as bad as it looked, though it was later revealed he’s already on his way to the hospital for further evaluation.
After being down several minutes, Prescott was eventually carted to the locker room. It’s sad to think his season is now over after he was having a historic start to his 2020 season while playing like a top-10 quarterback. Not to mention he’s playing under the franchise tag and was well on his way to landing a massive long-term extension next offseason.
Unfortunately, Prescott’s season appears to now be over, which means it’s time for former Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton to get his shot.
Dalton, who spent his first nine NFL seasons as the Bengals’ franchise quarterback, was released this offseason as the team moved on to the Joe Burrow era.
After being cut, Dalton didn’t get as much attention from other teams as he’d hoped, leading to him taking a one-year deal worth up to $3 million to be Prescott’s backup.
Now, Dalton takes over one of the NFL’s most loaded offenses as he looks to revive his career as a starting quarterback in this league. While his time in Cincinnati didn’t end well, he’s a great human being who’s absolutely one of the 32 best quarterbacks in this league.
Hopefully, Dalton gets to show what he’s made of for the rest of this season. But more importantly, here’s to hoping Prescott heals up and is back next season as good as ever.
