Daily Mail criticised after ‘ridiculous’ and ‘racist’ piece on ‘no-go areas for white people’

Didsbury #Didsbury

The Daily Mail are facing huge backlash over a piece they published on Saturday headlined ‘British towns that are no-go areas for white people’.

The piece noted several locations including Bradford, Blackburn and Dewsbury; Didsbury, Cardiff, Edinburgh and more as places where families live under “Taliban-like rules” and women “can’t leave the home without permission.”

Unsurprisingly, people on social media were quick to rubbish such reports, as well as admonish the Mail for publishing such an inflammatory article, with several people labelling it as “outright racism.”

One person also pointed out that just three weeks prior to this piece, Didsbury itself was included in a list of the “top 10 areas” for people to buy homes, describing it as a “Posh and leafy Manchester suburb”. You really couldn’t make it up.

Take it from a Mancunian (and all of the other commenters), multicultural though the city of Manchester may be, Didsbury is pretty darn white and I think I’ll go out on a limb and suggest that no of these areas listed live under anything resembling Sharia law.

The piece has, quite rightly, garnered a lot of negative attention given its incendiary nature. As this account below tweeted, there should be genuine concern that dangerous and divisive content like this is even allowed to be published, let alone be mocked after it is put online.
