Cuphead #Cuphead

Cuphead is getting an anniversary update for Xbox and Windows PC on September 29. This update is exclusively for Xbox and Windows and there’s no word on whether it’ll come to any other platforms.

According to Xbox Wire, the update comes with a new Bonus menu with an art gallery, music player, and a behind-the-scenes video player. Over 100 high resolution photos will be added to the update, which includes previously unreleased concepts and art pieces, as well as the entire Cuphead soundtrack comprised of 86 songs. A new MIDI demo track from Kris Maddigan will be playing in the background as players scroll through menus.

“We thought it would be fun to give this to our Xbox community as a gift on the game’s anniversary, as our Cuphead journey really started with the release on Xbox,” said Studio MDHR co-director Chad Moldenhauer. “In game development, plans like that don’t always work out, but we were fortunate that all our testing and finalization for the update seemed to finish with enough time to launch on the game’s sixth birthday!”

Cuphead was first released in 2017 for Xbox One and PC. It later came to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Given that the game found massive success on Xbox, an anniversary update for that version makes sense, but Studio MDHR hasn’t said anything about it coming to PlayStation or Switch at all.

Cuphead’s long-awaited DLC, The Delicious Last Course, was released in 2022. In GameSpot’s Cuphead review, we said, “Cuphead has been a longtime coming, and it’s great to see that it lives up to its initial promises across all platforms. It’s beautiful to look at, and with a pitch-perfect soundtrack, it flawlessly captures the era its developers so clearly revere. It’s also an intense action game that pulls no punches.”
