Cummings IN and Rogic OUT of Australia World Cup squad as 10 familiar Scottish Premiership faces make cut
Rogic #Rogic
Former Hibs and Rangers striker Jason Cummings has been selected for Australia’s World Cup squad but Celtic hero Tom Rogic missed the cut.
Graham Arnold has named his 26-man squad and it’s jam-packed with familiar Scottish Premiership faces both past and present. Hearts trio Nathaniel Atkinson, Cammy Devlin and Kye Rowles are in and they are joined by Hibs star man Martin Boyle. Celtic midfielder Aaron Mooy is in as is St Mirren forward Keanu Baccus plus Dundee United’s Aziz Behich. Former United man Harry Souttar is also in.
Former Premiership stars Jamie Maclaren and Jackson Irvine are heading to Qatar but the decision to omit Rogic will raise eyebrows among the Socceroos public despite his recent lack of match action. Rogic has barely featured for West Brom since joining and missed Australia’s playoff to reach the world’s most illustrious tournament.

But there is joy for Cummings who has made the list due to his stirring form with Central Coast Mariners. Arnold explained his thinking after selecting his World Cup squad. He said; “It’s been a unique and difficult qualification campaign and we now arrive in Qatar with an exciting squad which will do everything to make Australia proud on the world stage.
“Over the past four years, 32 players have made their debut for the national team. I want to thank every player who has helped the team over this journey. We have called upon 68 players during the qualifying campaign and every one of them has played a part in getting us here.”
“The make-up of our team reflects Australia’s multicultural landscape. Our boys come from all over the world, they all have different journeys, but we are united by one jersey.”
