Nearly six months after Juventus and Lyon played their Champions League round of 16 first leg in February, Lyon advanced to the quarterfinals on away goals despite two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo in Turin.

Lyon’s Memphis Depay scored a crucial opening goal in the 12th minute, converting a penalty kick to give his team a 2-0 aggregate lead with one away goal, meaning Juventus would have to score three unanswered goals to go through.

Ronaldo tied the game just before halftime from the penalty spot, and then gave Juventus a 2-1 lead with a glorious strike from outside the penalty area in the 60th.

The goal was Ronaldo’s 37th in all competitions for Juventus this year, breaking a team record for goals in a season that stood for almost a century. Even at the age of 35, Ronaldo is unstoppable.
