Manchester United: Cristiano Ronaldo slams the Glaziers
Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has torn into Red Devils’ owners the Glazer family and claimed “they don’t care” about the club.
The Portuguese striker has been at the heart of a number of headlines over the past few days following his involvement in a controversial interview with Piers Morgan. He has taken aim at a number of figures at the club including boss Erik ten Hag following a lack of “respect”.
The latest target has been hugely unpopular owners, the Glazer family, with Ronaldo claiming that the Americans only see the Red Devils as a marketing opportunity instead of a football club.
Speaking in the interview, he said: “The Glazers, they don’t care about the club. I mean, professional sport, as you know this, Manchester is a marketing club. They will get its money from the marketing – the sport, it’s, they don’t really care, in my opinion.”
Whilst Ronaldo’s comments over recent days have shook Old Trafford to its core, there are unlikely to be many fans speaking out over his opinion of the Glazers.
The Americans have been hugely unpopular figures at the club since their takeover in 2005. A continued lack of investment in the club, as well as their involvement in the now defunct plan for a European Super League have seen regular protests staged against their ownership, whilst anti-Glazer chants are a regular fixture on matchdays.

Ronaldo continued to back up supporters’ viewpoints by claiming that the Glazers’ approach to running the club has seen them fall out of contention for major silverware, affects that will be felt for the foreseeable future.
He continued: “The fans, they’re always right. I think the fans should know the truth, should know that the players, we want the best for the club. I want the best of the club.
“This is why I coming to Manchester United. This is why I love this club. But you have some things inside the club which don’t help Manchester reach the top level as City, Liverpool and even now Arsenal, for example.
“Which is complicated, it’s difficult. It’s hard in my opinion, it will be hard for Manchester to be in the top of the game in the next two, three years.”
Ronaldo rounded off his savage rant in the direction of the Red Devils’ current owners by revealing that he has never spoken to the American’s since sealing his emotional return from Juventus 18 months ago.
It now remains to be seen where Ronaldo’s future lies at Old Trafford. Once he returns from the World Cup in Qatar, he will have just half a season remaining on his current United contract, although it appears very unlikely that he will make another appearance for the club following his incendiary comments.
